Since Green Shelter Society UK was founded, we have actively encouraged our members across the country to harvest their own seeds and contribute to the Green Shelter Seed Bank. Through this initiative, hundreds of gardeners have accessed free seeds either at our in-person events or via postal distribution.
Our Seed Bank is built on community generosity. Members grow, save, and share seeds, strengthening local resilience and reducing reliance on commercial supply chains.
In addition, we organise virtual workshops and seminars to train gardeners in effective seed-saving techniques. These sessions have had a significant positive impact, empowering individuals to become more self-reliant while also fostering meaningful connections within and between communities.
By learning to save and share seeds, participants are not only growing food, they are contributing to a collaborative national network rooted in sustainability and mutual support.
To help us increase our collection, please consider donating your saved seeds to the Green Shelter Seed Bank by contacting us directly.
