Md Iqbal Hussain is a community development practitioner, educator, researcher, and sustainability advocate based in Kent, United Kingdom. With more than two decades of experience spanning education, social development, retail operations, advocacy, and community engagement, he has worked across diverse sectors in both the United Kingdom and Bangladesh.

Iqbal currently serves as Project Coordinator at Green Shelter Society UK, where he supports initiatives focused on environmental sustainability, community wellbeing, nature-based engagement, and social inclusion. He is passionate about creating stronger and more resilient communities through education, environmental stewardship, and collaborative action.

His professional background includes serving as a college lecturer from 2006 to 2009, working with international development organisation Christian Aid from 2002 to 2004, and coordinating advocacy campaigns in Bangladesh, including activities connected to the G8 Debt Cancellation Campaign in 2000. He also brings significant private-sector experience through his leadership role within retail operations at Harrods in the United Kingdom.

Iqbal holds a Master’s degree in Sociology and an MBA, combining a strong understanding of social systems with practical expertise in leadership, management, and organisational development. His research interests include the impact of teamwork on corporate environments, the role of microcredit in rural development, primary education and social progress, the influence of socialisation on individual development, and the contribution of faith-based institutions in connecting people with nature and strengthening communities.
