Dr Tazia Irfan is a medical oncologist treating breast, upper, lower, hepatobiliary and gynaecological malignancies at Royal Marsden Hospital. She is working at Royal Marsden Chelsea for over 17 years now and prior to her appointment at Royal Marsden Hospital, she worked in oncology at Churchill Hospital, Oxford. Royal Marsden hospital is the oldest cancer hospital/first cancer hospital in the word and also Churchill Hospital Oxford is a very reputable cancer hospital in the UK.

Dr Irfan was born and raised in a city called Chittagong in Bangladesh, a beautiful city bordered by sea and mountains. She is the second eldest of her parents, her father was a well known family physician, freedom fighter and deputy sector commander of sector 1 during the Liberation War and also was a member of parliament. Her mother was a women rights activist and helped many women in post-war rehabilitation. Dr Irfan graduated from Chittagong Medical College and joined her husband in Saudi Arabia and worked there for few years. She is a proud mother of 2 boys and both boys have grown up and are working.

Prior to her oncological carrier she worked on Cardiology at Aintree Hospital, Liverpool. Though she thought to become a cardiologist, her life path changed and she took interest in oncology, and since then she has never regretted it and cherishes her work being an oncologist. She also achieved higher degrees from Royal College of Physicians by achieving MRCP (general), MRCP (medical oncology). She also achieved higher qualifications, CCB from European School of Oncology and GCSRT, a degree from Harvard Medical School, USA.

She is a keen gardener and also loves doing crafts, painting and cooking. Her favourite activity is spending time with her boys and her siblings. Cancer work wise, she is connected with Bangladesh via fellow oncologist and in constant endeavour to help and achieve optimal cancer care in her native country.
